Washington my Love-Day 3

FYI: Another picture overload

This day was spent travelling to Leavenworth, an old historic Alpine Bavarian village located in the Cascades. When I left Rexburg, I did not count on being reunited with the cold snow, but I alas was. Luckily I packed my warm coat and Sperry's. I did not mind too much about the snow since I took this as an opportunity to take pictures. I ended up sleeping most of the drive, (tends to happen when I'm on long drives), but when I was awake I snapped pictures.

I love the look of snow on trees. It's so unique and really makes the color of the trees stand out. If only snow wasn't so cold, then I would love it all the time.

Driving into town, revealed how much of a tourist destination it was. Cars, cars, and more cars were parked along the sides of all the streets, along with warmly dressed people everywhere! Maps were out, cameras snapping photos, cheesy smiles in front of signs or objects, and bags clutched tightly in hands. Total tourist town and I loved it! In some ways it made me miss Jackson Hole. Plus I was constantly reminded of the Round Up by all of the souvenirs in each of the stores. It amazes me how even though we are in a completely different state, they all think alike and carry the same stuff, such as John Wayne cups and memorabilia.

The shops were cute, and it was fun to see all the kids sledding. A part of me wished I was joining them, but then I remembered my last experience sledding. For a recap as to why click here. You'll know why. Haha.

The look of the town is so unique, and very rustic. Even though it is a German type town, other countries were well represented. Once it got dark, the Christmas lights came on and lit up the whole town, making it even more spectacular.

Please enjoy the overload of pictures, and remember I am new to this whole photography thing. Yes I have always enjoyed taking pictures, but now I am trying it through a different camera.

I loved this opportunity I had to spend time with my family. It was a very good day, well spent playing the tourist part.
